Eaton XTCE040D XT IEC Contactor — 40A, 3-Pole, D-Frame
The Eaton XTCE040D is a 40A, 3-pole IEC contactor from Eaton’s XT series (also known as the Moeller DILM40). Rated at 30 HP at 460V three-phase (40A AC-3 / 63A AC-1), the XTCE040D is designed for non-reversing motor control and resistive or inductive load switching in industrial applications. The base XTCE040D has no built-in auxiliary contacts — up to 6 can be added via plug-in top-mount and side-mount blocks. The coil voltage is selected by part number suffix — see the table below. The coil is field-replaceable without special tools, a key advantage of the XT D-Frame design shared across the XTCE040D, XTCE050D, and XTCE065D.

- Field-Replaceable Coil: The XTCE040D coil can be replaced in the field without special tools — remove two screws from the base, separate the top from the base, release four plastic tabs, and swap in the new coil. The XTCERENCOILDA (110/120V) and XTCERENCOILDB (220/240V) replacement coils are stocked at Kent Electrical Supply and fit all three D-Frame sizes: XTCE040D, XTCE050D, and XTCE065D. This avoids replacing the entire contactor when only the coil has failed.
- No Built-In Auxiliary Contacts: The base XTCE040D ships with no auxiliary contacts (0 NO / 0 NC). Up to 6 auxiliary contacts can be added via plug-in accessories: a 4-pole top-mounted block and a 2-pole side-mounted block, giving complete flexibility for control and signalling circuits.
