Siemens/Furnas contactors are now obsolete

Furnas Electric was one of the original pioneers of definite purpose control in the motor control industry.  Their Class 42 line of definite purpose contactors and Class 16 definite purpose starters were the standard in motor control for decades.  The small size, rugged dependability and overall value are the the reasons why Furnas contactors were found in almost all HVAC applications and starter panels around the globe.

With the purchase of Furnas Electric by Siemens over a decade ago, we began to see the decline in manufacturing of this line that had been around for over 20 years.  Eventually Siemens chose to completely obsolete this line and not provide any suitable replacement in the DP realm and rather try to convert customer to the IEC line of contactors which are substantially different in size and function.  This is why we have chosen to switch former Furnas customers to the Eaton/Cutler Hammer line of definite purpose contactors.

Eaton/Cutler Hammer manufacturer their line of C25D contactors that are the same dimensions and have the same footprint as the Furnas contactors. They contain the same metal base plate and double quick connect terminals that make installation easy and worry free. And to replace the Class 16 line of definite purpose starters, Eaton has created the A27CNC line that uses the C25D contactors and the thermal XTOB overload relays for even greater flexibility.
